Quarterly Agape Fellowship

Before the Passover Festival, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
John 13:1

The word AGAPE is one of the Greek words for love that we find in the Bible. It is often used to describe the unconditional love that God shows toward humanity in the Gospel. In an effort to share this kind of love among believers, the church in the first century began gathering together for meals that they called agape meals. The idea was to maintain and promote brotherly love, refresh all the believers with a fresh meal, and reflect on Jesus by observing the Lord's Supper together. It reflects the attitude that Jesus had for his disciples the night before he was betrayed as he washed their feet, instituted the Lord's Supper and celebrated the Passover Feast with them. The verse above describes Jesus' love for the disciples that he displayed on that night.

Our quarterly Agape Fellowships are how we attempt to show this kind of love for the believers throughout our community. These gatherings are filled with joy as we gather to celebrate new believers and new members. We spend some time singing and being encouraged by the word. We observe the ordinances of the Lord's Supper, and Baptism and last but not least, we eat a meal together. Typically this meal is pot luck, each person is encouraged to bring what they can and share with others. Even if you do not have something to bring, come and enjoy a meal with us. We always have plenty of food. Everyone is invited! Bring your friends and family and celebrate with us.

Our next Agape Fellowship will be: Saturday, June 8th.
